Another year begins and the focus for CZ Elite is the same, excellence and performance.

The foundation of Cherif Soccer has always been developing younger sides. The 'chequitos' play is always representative of the club. This year began with CZ Elites U9 boys coached by William Pena, showing what youth development is all about.



Last fall the boys formed as a new side with CZ Elite. After an impressive run in league play, that earned them promotion, the boys have started this year with a renewed fire and marched into the Cal South State Cup ready for all comers.

Pool play open for Pena's side undefeated. After a tough win against Bakersfield Gunners 3-1, a solid 5-0 win verses Celtic and a 0-0 draw against Nado Select the boys were tuned up and ready for the knock-out rounds.

In the round of 32 the boys took on Vaqueros FC. The defense lead by goal keeper Kevin Cardenas and Emilliano, Adrik and Marwin as the back line showed what an inpenitrable back line could do. The boys advanced on a 3-0 win.

The round of 16 brought on a tie with Surf. During the run of play the midfield led by Marcus and Oswaldo controlled the flow of the game letting Jason Rocha use his incredible speed to push to a 4-1 lead with only five minutes remaining. Surf, being the club they are manged to come back and tie the match at full time 6-6. This drove the attack into overdrive where the boys began to push on lead by a beautiful opening goal scored by Ramon and assisted by Anothony. The final was 10-6.

The boys fell out in the round of 8 verses Barcelona Blue in PK's. They led 2-0 at one point, but ended at full time 2-2. The depth and quality of the squad was evident with solid contributions from Justin, Kenny, Fenando and Ivan in every match. CZ Elite was founded on a system that teaches skills, and the youngers are putting those skills to use.
